An Giang is one of two provinces of the Mekong Delta with hills and mountains that almost focus on the North west of the province, belong to two districts of Tinh Bien and Tri Ton. 1. The best time to visit Chau Doc

December – April: This is the dry season in Chau Doc that gives the town the pleasant atmosphere and abundant sunlight. According to the common belief, the dry time is the best time to visit Chau Doc as there is no rain interrupting your outdoor activities. Also, this period witnesses the massive celebration of Ba Chua Xu Festival – the most colorful festival of the region.
May – November: This is the rainy season in Chau Doc when some rain comes, and the visitors have to keep in mind the weather forecast on the go. For the cruise trips during the rainy time, it is vital to keep the life-jackets on hand.

2. How to Get to Chau Doc in An Giang

2.1. By bus

There are buses/coaches that run to Chau Doc from Ho Chi Minh City or any other Mekong Delta provinces. In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City – Chau Doc bus takes 5 hours. So, due to your location, for example, Hanoi, it might need to take a flight to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, and then get the transfer by road to Chau Doc. What’s more, it is feasible to move between Chau Doc and Phnom Penh via the Tinh Bien Border.

2.2. By Boat

Start: 8:00 from the hotel. End: 17:30 at the hotel in Chau Doc
At 8:00 depart at the hotel to visit Fish Village, and to learn the history of development of fishery ( a type of specific economic on the river). Day 1: Ho Chi Minh - My Tho – Ben Tre – Can Tho (L)
At 7:50 Leave Ho Chi Minh city, enjoy the scenic journey along the National Highway bordered by green rice fields. On arrival at My Tho, visit Vinh Trang pagoda, take a leisurely boat ride along the river, view stilt houses, fruit plantations and fishing villages along the river bank. Proceed to Tortoise islet, have lunch in the orchard garden. Then a boat ride to An Khanh – a less touristy attraction in Ben Tre, enjoy cruising on a hand-rowed sampan under the shade of water coconut trees along natural canals. Have a short cycling tour then enjoy seasonal fruit & honey tea to the sound of “Southern Vietnamese folk music”, performed by the locals. Visit a family business which epitomizes the idyllic rural lifestyle, taste delicious coconut candy & observe the pastoral life as you roam through the fruit plantations and villages. Proceed to Can Tho. Overnight in the hotel (family home-stay with dinner can be arranged on request). Free time to visit the bustling Can Tho market.

Check into your hotel on arrival at Can Tho. Free to explore the city on your own in the afternoon. You can also visit a village, meet the local people, have dinner with them and enjoy their music. Overnight at your chosen hotel in Can Tho.
Option 2: Home stay (D) with dinner included
Transfer by motor boat to a small village in Cai Rang district. Check into your riverside cottage. Trekking around the village to experience the rural lifestyle of the Mekong Delta people. Join a family as they prepare dinner, then share the meal with them. Enjoy an evening of traditional folk music with your neighbors. Overnight in your riverside cottage.
Day 2: Can Tho – Long Xuyen – Chau Doc (B)
Take a leisurely boat trip to explore the picturesque tributaries of the lower Mekong river (Bassac river), then proceed to Cai Rang floating market (or optionally to Phong Dien floating market ), which are the liveliest in the whole religion.
Have you ever tasted Vietnamese vermicelli soup? Well, now go and see how it is made. Then wander around the village and meet the friendly local people and experience how to pass a “Monkey bridge” which is built by only one stem of bamboo. Visit the orchard garden. Stop for lunch. Proceed to Chau Doc, continue the tour to visit Tra Su, getting to the wild birds sanctuary, cruising smoothly with small boats to discover the arrays of splendid canals deep into the forest, watching storks, cranes and other tropical birds.
Back to Chau Doc town, hotel check in. Overnight in Chau Doc
Day 3: Chau Doc- Phu Quoc
At 8:00 A.M in the morning, the guide will come to your hotel/ guesthouse in Chau Doc, transfer you by tour bus to Ha Tien speed boat port.
You will arrive the port around 11:15 A.M. Free to lunch at your own account.
13:00 be ready for the speed boat which departs at Ha Tien port at 14:00.
16:00 you will arrive Phu Quoc Island. End services
