Ca Mau is Vietnam’s southernmost province which belongs to Mekong Delta, with the North adjoining to Kien Giang province, the Northeast adjoining to Bac Lieu Province, the East and Southeast adjoining to East Sea and the West adjoining to The gulf of Thailand. Ca Mau city is the socio-economic center of the province.

1. The best time to visit Ca Mau

 
Ca Mau’s climate is characterized by equatorial tropical monsoon climate, divided into two distinct seasons, the rainy season from May to November, the dry season from December to April next year. Tourists can travel in Ca Mau on any time of the year. But the best time to visit Ca Mau is from November to April. However, If possible, tourists should go in Lunar July – August to try a range of special cuisines.

2. How to get to Ca Mau

Ca Mau is 350 km from Ho Chi Minh City and travellers can be reached here by road and air.

2.1. By plane

 
Ca Mau Airport is 2km from city center. Today, Vietnam Airlines operate daily flights from Ca Mau Airport to Tan Son Nhat International Airport and vice versa. The flight last 45 minutes.

2.2. By bus

Travelling by private transport, tourists can follow the route Ho Chi Minh City – Can Tho City – Ca Mau City. Alternatively, from at the West Coach Station (Ho Chi Minh City), tourists can buy coach tickets to Ca Mau city. There have been many coach companies providing trips from Ho Chi Minh City – Ca Mau.

2.3. Going around in Ca Mau

The best mean of transport to discover Ca Mau is motorbike. Bus is also a good choice for long journey. Third, boat and motorboat are popular ways of going around in Ca Mau due to the province’s interlacing system of rivers and canals.

Day 1: SAIGON – BEN TRE – SOC TRANG – BAC LIEU ( L, D ) 
 
 
7:00 AM: Depart from VIETNAM CHARM TRAVEL office to Bac Lieu city by air-conditioned bus.  Stop on the way to see My Tho city.  Take a motorized boat ride to see Con Phung (Phoenix Island) of Ben Tre province.  Take a look at handicraft made from coconut trees.  Take a rowing-boat along natural creeks and quite villages.  See a bee-keeping house, enjoy honey tea, seasonal tropical fruit and Don ca Tai tu traditional music - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam officially recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.  Take a horse cart along peaceful paths.
 
 
11:00 AM: Have lunch on the island with delicious local dishes. Continue to Bac Lieu.  Stop in Soc Trang to sightsee Clay Pagoda, KơLeng Pagoda.  Arrive in Bac Lieu to stay overnight.
 
Day 2:  BAC LIEU – CA MAU  ( B, L, D )
 
6:00 AM:  Have breakfast.  Leave for Ca Mau.  Stop to see the villa of Cong tu Bac Lieu – a legendary rich playboy who lived in the early 1900s, famous for his wealth and lavish spending, once burned money to boil bean.  Visit the memorial of Musician Cao Van Lau -  Author of “Da Co Hoai Lang”, the predecessor of Vong Co nowadays. Continue to Ca Mau, stop to visit the Phat Ba Nam Hai, Nha tho Cha Diep (The Father Diep Church) in Ho Phong.
 
 
Checkin hotel and have lunch.  In the afternoon, sightsee the touristy site Hon Da Bac, CM12 Victory Memorial Monument, Lang Ong Nam Hai, bird park in the central city.  Have dinner and free time in the evening, overnight in Ca Mau.
 
Day 3:  CA MAU – NGOC HIEN – CAN THO  ( B, L, D )
 
 
6:00 AM:  Enjoy breakfast.  Go to the Nam Can port by bus, take a canoe to explore Khu Can Cu Rung Duoc (Mangrove Forest Base).  The natural scenery full of mangrove forests of birds, wild animals, and fishes gives Ca Mau a very distinctive beauty.  Continue to Vung Dat Mui.  Ca Mau cape is the Southernmost location with the last milestone of Vietnam mainland.  After having photos taken, standing by milestone 0 you can contemplate the forest and sea swelling in the distance and feel the heat mixed with the salty air.  Go back to Can Tho after having lunch on a floating restaurant in the sea.  Overnight in Can Tho.
 
 
Day 4:  CẦN THƠ – SÀI GÒN ( B, L )
 
 
After breakfast, take the bus to Ninh Kieu wharf.  Take a motorized boat trip to see daily activities of villagers trading on the floating market Cai Rang.  Numerous small boats full of seasonal vegetables and fruits: mangoes, durians, bananas, oranges, coconuts.... gather for buying and selling.  Some boats are covered with roofs, some are not.  Foods and drinks on small boats are also available to serve hungry sellers and buyers.  Enjoy tropical fruits.
 
11:00 AM:  Go back to Saigon by bus, stop to see Vinh Long market and taking a short break at Mekong Rest Stop and heading to Saigon.  End of tour.
 
OPT 2: THE CHARM OF MEKONG DELTA 4 DAYS/ 3 NIGHTS TOUR
 
Day 1: CAN THO CITY ARRIVAL
 
Arrive to Can Tho airport, meeting your tour guide and driver. Pick up and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Can Tho
 
Day 2: CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET - BIKING AROUND THE COUNTRYSIDE ( B, L )
 
Early morning, take a leisurely motorized boat along Hau River, tourist will have chance to see morning streets market with many products homemade such as fruits, vegetables, cake… are sold on the way to the wharf.
 
 
Cruising in the river to the busy Cai Rang floating market, one of the biggest floating market in Southern Vietnam. Visitors will be surprised to explore “the method of the business” in the floating market areas. It is really impressed.
 
 
Then biking to Cai Son village paths to look at: the rural activities of the local people, through the canal, rice paddies, orchard. Stop at Mr Ba Cong’s orchard, walk around the garden and enjoying fruit, drinking tea, chatting with the local people to see the Mekong inhabitants’ life. Guest cycling through the ferry, arrive to Ba Lang and have lunch there. Then continue running along the village access the river, visitors sometimes saw the rural activities of the local people… You feel like relaxing at the peaceful and quite garden. Return to the wharf. After visiting Can Tho market and Binh Thuy ancient house village, we proceed to Soc Trang. Overnight in Soc Trang.
 
Day 3: SOC TRANG - NGA NAM FLOATING MARKET - TAN LONG STORK GARDEN - CA MAU ( B, L )
 
Early morning, take a boat trip to Nga Nam floating market. It is undoubtedly one of the most busiest floating markets in the South of Vietnam.
 
 
Thanks to its critical location, the market becomes a central points to hundreds of boats and canoes, selling all types of goods. You can find just almost anything – from rice, meat, fresh fruits and other staple to TV and electronic goods.
 
 
After visiting the floating market, we proceed to Ca Mau. On the way, visit Tan Long Stork Garden deserves all your attention, if you still wonder what a typical Mekong Delta landscape looks like. Then visit Clay Pagoda, you will soon find out that the pagoda also houses very special candles, each of which can be as heavy as 200kg and as tall as 1.6m Arrive to Ca Mau late afternoon. Overnight in Ca Mau.
 
Day 4: CA MAU – U MINH FOREST – RACH GIA – PHU QUOC ISLAND ( B, L )
 
 
Early morning, depart for U Minh forest. Take a sampan trip into the forest, you will immediately feel like you are harmonizing with nature because of all of the impressive pictures of cajuputs, the fragrance of the flowers and the music-like noise of birds, insects and animals making people relaxed and comfortable.
After observe the huge sense of the forest, we depart to Rach Gia for boarding the express boat to Phu Quoc island (13.00 – 15.00). End service.
