Travel Trips

Hoi An is a city in the central of Vietnam, on the east coast. It is considered as one of the most popular travel destinations in Vietnam. Besides that, Hoi An is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The weather in Hoi An is typical for the tropical climate of Viet Nam. Like many places in Vietnam, Hoi An has two main season: dry and rainy season and the weather is warm during the year. However, there are some months that tourists should avoid visiting Hoi An due to bad weather.

1. The best time to visit Hoian

The temperature begins to hike up from June to August since it is summer season in Hoi An, during which time the daily temperature will be around 30 degrees Celsius. These are the hottest months during the year; and even the nighttime is also relatively hot.
From february to May, these months are dry season in Hoi An, so the weather becomes really mild and comfortable. The sun shines warmly on the street and the sky is clear, making Hoi An more beautiful and stunning. These weather conditions are best for walking along Hoi An’s old streets and discovering the unique small houses with traditional architectural style of the 19th an 20th century. In addition to the perfect weather, the rainfall is also very low; thus, it is perfect for outdoor activities.

2. How to get to Hoi An ancient town

2.1. By air

The closest airport to Hoi An is Da Nang International Airport (DAD), located in the heart of Da Nang city. It is 30 kilometres from Hoi An to Danang. To reserve flight tickets, please contact VIETNAM CHARM TRAVEL by email or phone.

2.2. By train

The closest train station is in Da Nang. At the station you won't have any trouble finding a xe om to take you to Hoi An – if anything, you'll likely have to fend off willing drivers. Expect to pay around US$8. A stop at the Marble Mountains on the way will cost you an extra US$2. To book train tickets or need useful information about train to Danang/ Hoian, please contact VIETNAM CHARM TRAVEL directly by email or phone anytime.

2.3. By buses

Bus service to Hoi An is limited as most long distance buses head to the major hub Da Nang; from here you can take the local bus, xe om or taxi to Hoi An. Open bus tour companies or deluxe buses direct to Hoi An are usually the best option, saving you from the extra step in the journey.
2.3.1. By taxi from Danang: it would be best to negotiate the fare before going, which ranges from VND 300,000 to VND 400,000 ($15-20)
2.3.2. By bus from Danang: Many hotels in Hoi An provides bus transfer from Da Nang International Airport to Hoi An, for about $2-3/each. These minivans are often comfortable enough and carry 6-10 people. Another choice is taking the Sinh Café, the popular bus pass service which makes a stop in Hoi An.
If you travel to Hoian from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh, you should take train or tourist bus to be avoid being scam and complicated on the way. Please contact VIETNAM CHARM TRAVEL to make your step to Hoian easiest.
The cheapest bus, though, is the city bus which can be found at 33 Dien Bien Phu, Thanh Khe District, Danang. This bus runs every hour and costs about $1 for one-way ticket. With that low price, you have to accept the fact that the buses are quite old and don’t run fast.
2.3.3. By motorbike from Danang: Also known as xe-om, this is the most common method to get around in Vietnam. A trip from Da Nang to Hoi An by motorbike usually costs VND 150,000 to VND 250,000/each, depending on your negotiation. Or if you wish to travel to Hoi An within a day, you can rent a motorbike and ride it yourself.
